Between 1-3 May 2026, the 31st edition of the Central and Eastern European Moot Competition (CEEMC) was held in Timișoara, a competition organised by the British Law Centre.

CEEMC is a competition that simulates the debate of a preliminary reference before the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), both in terms of the written and oral procedure. The jury is made up of former and current judges of the CJEU, former and current advocates general, and academics. The honorary president of the competition is Eleanor Sharpston, former advocate general of the CJEU and an integral member of the jury of the oral rounds.

The Faculty of Law at UBB was represented by Ramona Banciu (3rd year), Luca Bozdoc (3rd year), Alexandra Staicu (3rd year) and Mihaela Corasciuc (4th year), and the team coordination was ensured by Martina Blaj (4th year) and Senior Lecturer Diana Ionescu. Just like last year, our team’s participation was possible thanks to the sponsorship provided by the Transilvania Foundation, a foundation we would like to thank for its investment in education.

Regarding the written memoranda, the UBB Faculty of Law team obtained 17 points, one point away from the highest score (18 points). Following the oral arguments, Luca Bozdoc (third year) received the “noted speaker” award, an award also obtained last year by a student from our team (Martina Blaj, fourth year). Beyond the results obtained, the competition leaves behind the extraordinary experience of pleading before recognized legal professionals at European level and learning from the feedback they provided.

Congratulations to everyone!

For participation in CEEMC 2027, our faculty team will be formed in November-December 2026. The announcement regarding registration will be published on the faculty’s website. We therefore invite our students to register for the selection procedure
