The Faculty of Law announces the organization in Cluj, between June 25 and 26, 2026, together with the “Academician Andrei Rădulescu” Institute of Legal Research of the Romanian Academy, of the National Conference on Civil Procedure with the theme Intelligent Civil Process: Fundamentals of Legal Technique in the Technological Era.

The technological transformations that characterize contemporary society inevitably influence the functioning of civil justice. In this context, the conference Intelligent Civil Process: Fundamentals of Legal Technique in the Technological Era aims to provide an academic framework for reflection on how digital tools can be integrated into the procedural mechanisms specific to civil procedural law, without diminishing the central role of human legal intelligence.

The concept of “intelligent civil process” should not be understood as a simple digitalization of the procedure or as a substitution of the intellectual activity of lawyers by technological systems. On the contrary, the intelligence of the civil process has its foundation primarily in the rigor of legal technique and in the intellectual activity of the actors involved in the achievement of the act of justice. Interpreting the norm, evaluating evidence, constructing the legal argument and maintaining procedural balance are expressions of a profoundly human activity, which cannot be substituted by technology.

From this perspective, technology must be seen as a tool capable of supporting legal activity, facilitating access to information, organizing and analyzing legal data or streamlining procedural activities. However, the integration of these tools into civil proceedings raises relevant doctrinal and practical issues, related to the limits of automation, procedural guarantees and maintaining the central role of the judge and other participants in the process.

This year’s conference aims to explore these themes through contributions that analyze the relationship between traditional legal techniques and new technological tools, as well as their impact on the functioning of the civil process.

Starting with the second edition, the conference takes on an itinerant character, being organized annually in different university centers in the country, having as its main theme civil procedural law and facilitating legal dialogue in the academic and professional environment at the national level. The 2026 edition will be organized together with the Faculty of Law of Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca.

The conference is addressed to academics, researchers, judges, lawyers, notaries public, bailiffs, legal advisors and all those interested in the evolution of civil procedural law in the context of contemporary technological transformations. The selected contributions will aim to provide doctrinal and practical perspectives on how technology can contribute to the development of an efficient civil process, while preserving the essential role of human legal intelligence, by reaffirming and capitalizing on it in a new institutional and technological context.

Participation is open to jurists interested in the reform of the civil process, representatives of judicial institutions, doctoral students and practitioners in the field of law. The conference offers a rigorous and open platform for dialogue between theory and practice, aimed at supporting the coherent modernization of civil procedure in Romania and its alignment with European standards.

The official opening will bring together prominent personalities from the legal, academic and professional environment in Romania.
